On 26 July 2005 the Trustees agreed to pay for a Men's Group facilitator for a new project to be established by the University Counselling Service at the University of Nottingham.
Young men often find it difficult to ask for help and support in managing their personal, emotional and mental health problems, although they are at risk of depression and mental illness.
The project will explore ways of reaching out to male students and offer a group to look at depression, drugs, alcohol, anger management and the role of men in the 21st century specifically from a young male student's perspective.
The funding is for the academic year 2005/6.

A facilitator, Rob Sharp, has been appointed and will start work in February 2006.

As reported in the September 2006 Newsletter this project has concluded without achieving positive results.
Young men showed minimal interest in the group sessions thus emphasising the major problems associated with persuading young men to seek help. The good news is that the Higher Education Funding Council has agreed to fund further work in this area.
