(February, 2007)
CWMT decided
in July 2006 to support clinical trials of this CCBT programme developed by Dr. David Purves.  In financial terms the support is modest at £1,500 but it is hoped that the clinical trial may lead to a large scale RCT.  If this is so the cost is likely to be too high for us to contemplate but at least we will have enabled Blues Begone to prove its stuff.
Blues Begone consists of 30 sessions each taking about 30 minutes to complete.  Patients can use the programme at home.  Blues Begone is not subject to a licence and could cost as little as £45 is prescribed by a GP.

(July, 2007)
Our formal involvement is now concluded in that limited clinical trials have taken place with encouraging results. Dr. Purves intended to launch a significant randomised controlled trial. We are unlikely to be directly involved in the funding of the RCT but have undertaken to help identify potential funders.
